FSMBH follows the rules and regulations of the Canadian Ball Hockey Association. Any rules not covered here are included in the CBHA Rulebook. Some differences between ball hockey and ice hockey:
NON-
FLOATING BLUE LINE
Expansion of the offensive zone occurs once the attacking team has crossed the blue line with the ball. The attacking team will then have half of the entire playing surface to control the ball giving the team addiitonal space for offensive play, ( from behind the opponent's goal to the center red line). For the defending team to clear the zone, they must propel the ball oustide the center red line. This action resets the blue line and the attacking team must regain it again.
ICING
Non-
STICK INFRACTIONS
Any contact whether deliberate or accidental with the ball above the normal height of the shoulders will result in a penalty. High sticking the ball is not just a stoppage in play it is a 2 minute penalty.
4 MINUTE MINOR PENALTIES
High Sticking, slashing, cross checking, minor spearing, minor butt ending, head contact
Only one goal can be scored on the powerplay, however the offending player must serve the entire length of the penalty even if a substitute has replaced him after a goal. In this case he must wait for a whistle.
